Please be aware that we plan to offer the National Clinic at the Adult Open Championships held in
NEW!! Officiating Opportunities are on our web page!
Please read through the 2009 Points of Emphasis before going into the details of the outline. This allows the attendees to at least "see" what they will need to be familiar with at the end of the Clinic.
There is a new policy regarding cell phones at score tables during competition that dictates cell phones are NOT allowed to be used at the court during play. If cell phones are being used by a reffing team while working, a penalty can be enforced by the Tournament Director that can be as severe as being disqualified from the tournament. Please inform your attendees to turn OFF their cell phones at the Clinic.
To register for a clinic, the Junior National or National Referee should contact the host region. Do not contact the clinician. The registration fee for the clinics is determined by the host region. At a minimum, the fee is $20 payable to USA Volleyball if paid in advance and $30 if paid the day of the clinic to the host region contact. Additional costs may be added depending on local expenses. Again, please contact the host region contact in advance to understand the actual cost of your preferred clinic.
All Junior National and National Referees are required to attend a National clinic each year prior to officiating at the Adult Open, Girls Junior Olympic and Boys Junior Olympic Volleyball Championships.
Please be aware that we plan to offer the National clinic at the Adult Open Championships and both of the JOVC events; however, this might be limited to one per tournament, more than likely at the beginning of the event. The length of the clinic will be approximately 3 hours, so if attending the clinic at one of the tournaments, it is likely that referees will have to come in even earlier than in the past.
The National Clinics are not limited to National level referees. They are open to all certified experienced referees and we have heard that some regions may choose to use them to satisfy their regional recertification requirements.
Thank you and have a great season.
